7. I notice in your vlog you talk alot about your music or photography. I'd like to hear more about what kinda projects you have on the go and what other interests and talents you pursue. I also love when you just post videos of just playing around on the guitar. How is the band doing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wPgEgRZ-1Y Ah yes, music. I discovered a love for music when I was 13. As soon as I was 16 and could afford to buy an instrument, I was hooked for life! Photography too has been a keen interest of mine, but sadly as my health has been in decline its becoming harder and harder to carry the equipment that I need. I used to be a professional photographer and really enjoyed doing a lot of photography for the magazine that I used to run. Now its much more difficult for me and I feel like a small part of my career prospects have died along with it. Its not too bad I suppose as Im always a very busy body! I really love to draw illustrations, particularly manga. I realise that its really difficult to break out into the professional world of illustration and I have my music, so for me its more of a hobby than anything serious. Of course, I do a lot of artwork for my bands promotional material and then it becomes serious, but I could never place drawing as more important than my music. Im also a real geek when it comes to anything technical. I build or heavily modify a lot my musical instruments and Im also the sound technician and do all the recordings for my band. I have my own studio, which is in fact my bedroom. Its not for general commercial hire, but more for making the music that I make and sometimes for recording other artists. I used to be an avid gamer too although if I sit down to play computer games, I forget that I have a life with important things to do, so I try to keep myself active. Computer games are really, really fun, but its no substitute for real life! My Nintendo DS gets a decent workout though. I love my DS and find that I can pick it up whilst travelling or waiting for people and put it down when I please. Its great because it generally goes where I go and theres a tonne of great programs for it that make it fabulous for more than just games! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HqTGBZQkxc I love making videos (of course) and if I had more time, money and better equipment, I'd seriously consider making much better Youtube videos! I tend to spread myself a little thinly sometimes over these things because my music and Japanese studies take up so much of my time. But I find at least that a lot of my hobbies tend to lend themselves towards inspiring me with my music or learning Japanese. Oh, and as much as Im sometimes shy to admit it, Im also a real anime and manga geek. I tend to stick to the really dark stuff. Or the really girly drama ones: Im a sucker for a good, tear-jerking romance! Catch the last couple questions after the break. 8. Whenever people asked me the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" the only answer that would come to mind for me was "a woman". haha. But seriously, what are you studying and what sort of career do you hope to get into?
I guess Ive pretty much covered this in my other questions, haha! Gosh, I do love to talk on and on dont I? When I was a child, I wanted to be married and madly in love. I didnt really have any occupational aspirations other than really unrealistic ones. When I was really young, I wanted to be an astronaut or an archaeologist and dig up dinosaur bones. Those dreams quickly faded when I realised that Im terrified of the thought of something going wrong in the middle of an empty vacuum and that archaeologists often come face to face with spiders, worms and cold weather. That put me off kinda quickly! As I grew up, I realised that I couldnt stand doing mind-numbing repetitive jobs and would only be satisfied doing something that I could really throw my all and everything into. We spend so much of our lives working; I need to get satisfaction out of what Im doing rather than turning my brain off for 8 hours a day! Some people are fine with that, but I have this short attention span and thrive in organised chaos. I want to travel, meet new people and really share my emotions. I want to make people feel how others have made me feel. And if I can do this AND get paid, thats all I need in life! I still havent given up on the idea of meeting my perfect partner, getting married, wearing a beautiful dress and eating amazing cake surrounded by friends. Of course though, I take every opportunity I can to enjoy the last few at least! 9. How is your social life? I'm sure someone as cool as you must have a circle of friends who are equally as awesome. Aww, youre too kind! Actually, it seems like I cant escape bumping into people I know, wherever I go! It gets kind of freaky sometimes! I try to get along with everyone and I try to be as un-abrasive as I can, but sometimes that doesnt always work. Generally though, my friends are really lovely people! Ive got some really good friends who Im very close to who Ive met either by chance, through friends or sometimes completely at random. My best friend I met at an LGBT social night and as it turns out, he lived less than 10 metres away from me! Since then Weve been inseparable, despite the distance that we live apart now. I'm quite a social person, but I'm not really a club-going person. I like to go places where I can hear people and have good conversation (Unless were watching a movie or something). I love my friends and I get sad when I'm away from them for a few days. My band mates are also really good friends and I thin thats the way it should be. If you go on tour with someone, you have to be prepared to spend months trapped on a tour bus with them for hours a day! 10. And finally, what are your hopes and dreams? What do you hope to accomplish in you lifetime? Wow, thats a good question. I want to be happy and share something amazing with people. I want to change how people think for the better. Id love to travel the world trying food everywhere that I go! Haha, Thats a very real ambition of mine: travelling to taste new foods, meet new wonderful people and have really unique experiences. Id like to become famous so that I can share my music with more people, but I guess fame really depends on your perspective. People already tell me Im famous because of how many people I know, but for me, being famous doesnt happen until people know of my music before they know of me! On the smaller scale of things, I want to trim down my possessions: to only keep the things that are important or special rather than hording stuff. Im terrible at collecting and holding on to things. I need to be able to let go more and not get bogged down by materialism. Most of all I want to have lots of unique, interesting and really positive experiences! H: Well i hope you have found that doing this interview has been unique, interesting, and really positive. I certainly have, and i wish you the best of success in all your current and future endeavours. (By the way, there are alot of delicious foods and wonderful people here in Canada... if you ever happen to be in the neighbourhood.) Comments
